IU leads Gardner Webb 34-23 at half

After having a 16 point lead halfway through the first 20 minutes, Gardner Webb has hung around here at Assembly Hall trimming the lead to 34-23 at halftime. Sophomore guard Victor Oladipo leads IU with 10 points as eight Hoosiers have scored.

Hoosiers move to 4-0 on season with 94-65 defeat of Savannah State

In a game that saw 53 fouls called and 71 free throws shot, it was the Hoosiers who made the most of their opportunities at the line making 35-of-47 in route to a 94-65 victory Saturday night against Savannah State. Freshman Cody Zeller was an efficient 5-of-6 on the evening with 21 points and was apart of a dominant frontcourt for the Hoosiers. Backing up his 15-point performance on Wednesday against Evansville, junior Christian Watford also missed just one shot from the floor in scoring 21 points. With Savannah State lacking the frontcourt size and depth of the Hoosiers, the ball was pounded inside all night.

Women's basketball defeats Belmont 63-52

The first road trip of the season against Central Arkansas resulted in a loss. But on Friday night, the Hoosiers (2-1) got their first road win of the season against Belmont 63-52. Three Hoosiers scored in double figures: junior forward Aulani Sinclair (12 points), senior guard Alisha Goodwin (11 points) and freshman center Quaneisha McCurty recorded a double-double (10 points and 16 rebounds). IU shot almost 36 percent from the field and held the Bruins to 28 percent. Other Game Notes: Candyce Ussery scored the first points of her collegiate career finishing the game with seven points, two steals, one block and one rebound. Indiana won the rebounding battle for the third-consecutive game, 55-41. IU outscored Belmont in the paint, 30-22. The Hoosiers finished with 23 offensive rebounds and had 17 second-chance points to Belmont's nine. Indiana's bench outscored the Belmont reserves, 44-14.

IU swimming and diving completes day one of double dual-meet

IU adds 19th commitment to 2012 class

Palm Desert (Ca.) College of the Desert cornerback Shaine Boyle became the 19th member of the IU 2012 recruiting class, and third from the junior college ranks, Wednesday when he committed to the Hoosiers. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, Boyle chose IU over offers from Hawaii, San Jose State, New Mexico State and Western Michigan. All three of IU's junior college commitments play on the defensive side of the ball.

IU beats Evansville, 94-73

The IU men's basketball team stayed undefeated Wednesday night, defeating Evansville 94-73 at the Ford Center. Leading the way for the Hoosiers was four starters in double figures.

Watford vs. Elston: Is there a debate?

I've received a bunch of comments regarding the struggles of Christian Watford coupled with the emergence of Derek Elston. Disclaimer: Yes, it's only been two games. But this is a situation worth monitoring because the chirping for Elston could get louder if he continues this, especially if Watford also struggles like he has so far. Now, it's worth noting that Watford is still coming off an ankle injury.
