Petts Nets Winner

Both of Indiana's losses this season were of the 1-0 variety. Saturday night in State College, Pa., junior midfielder Harrison Petts put the Hoosiers on the correct side of that score in the 106th minute. The Zionsville, Ind., native scored his first goal of the season, propelling Indiana to a 1-0 win against Penn State.

IU Women's Basketball TV schedule released

New IU Coach Curt Miller and the Indiana women's basketball team will be seen on the Big Ten Network at least five times this season. In addition, the team will have 17 other games live streamed at BTN.com. Only the Hoosiers first four games to start the season will not have any BTN coverage. The last two games of the season at Iowa Feb.

Touted Ohio receiver commits to IU

St. Edward (Ohio) High School wide receiver Anthony Young joined IU's 2013 recruiting class Saturday evening, becoming the 11th player to commit to play for the Hoosiers next Fall. A 6-foot, 170-pound dual-sport high school star from Lakewood, Ohio, Young is not only regarded as a football player but track athlete as well.

Peaper named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

Senior Brant Peaper was named the Big Ten's Golfer of the week on Sept. 19. Peaper captured the individual title by seven strokes as he led the Hoosiers to a second place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. His opening round 65 set the pace for his overall stroke total of 202, both scores tied tournament records. "Brant certainly deserves this award after his play the past weekend at Wolf Run," IU Coach Mike Mayer said in a media release.

2013 Schedule, Player Reactions

A blog post on September 14 covered the Indiana University baseball team's schedule for 2013. Tuesday, seniors Michael Basil and Trace Knoblauch shared their thoughts on the upcoming season. The matchup both players mentioned as most exciting was the Hoosiers' series against the University of Florida. "The one that stands out the most is obviously the Florida matchup," Basil said.

A closer look at the IU/Ball State ending

With about seven seconds left in Saturday's game against Ball State, IU looked as if they were on the verge of a comeback victory that would make the Hoosiers 3-0. Down 38-25 with about four minutes remaining, freshman quarterback Nate Sudfeld led the Hoosiers to 14 straight points to give IU a 39-38 lead with only 49 seconds left in the game. Then Ball State drove down the field to IU's 43-yard line with seven seconds left.

Glass announces 2012 IU Athletics Hall of Fame class

IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass announced Monday the seven members to be added to IU's Athletic Hall of Fame. The seven inductees are Antwaan Randle El (football, 1998-2001), Landon Turner (men's basketball, 1979-81), Michelle Venturella (softball, 1991-95), Dave Martin (Varsity Club director, football, 1959-61), Leanne Grotke (coordinator of women's athletics, 1972-79), Bobby Robertson (football, 1949-52; baseball, 1954) and Lary Schulhof (swimming, 1962-64). "These individuals embody the spirit for which administrators, coaches and student-athletes are best known at Indiana University," Glass said in a press release.

Sudfeld named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Following Saturday night's fourth quarter performance against Ball State, IU quarterback Nate Sudfeld has been honored as the co-Big Ten freshman of the week by the conference. Down 38-25 in the fourth quarter, IU Coach Kevin Wilson called Sudfeld into the game after starting quarterback Cam Coffman left with a hip pointer. In his one-quarter effort, Sudfeld went 13-for-20 passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Hoosiers lose in heartbreaker, 41-39

It was a comeback to be remembered in Bloomington. That is until the party got spoiled. Despite what seemed like a magical comeback for IU in Saturday night's game against Ball State, scoring 14 points in a little over three minutes to take a late fourth-quarter lead, the Cardinals hit a last-second field goal to steal the win from the Hoosiers, 41-39. Down 38-25 with only four minutes and seven seconds remaining in Saturday night's game against Ball State and a freshman quarterback under center, it all seemed like Indiana was about to fall to a 2-1 record.
