BLOOMINGTON -- Luis Soffner was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the week on Monday after a shutout performance Sunday against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Sunday was Soffner's fifth shutout of the season in goal. Soffner was tested 16 times during the game but was able to keep the clean sheet to give the Hoosiers an opening 2-0 win in conference play.

The senior co-captain currently leads the Big Ten in goals against average, save percentage, saves, shutouts and shutouts per game.

This is the second time Soffner has been honored this season and currently the Hoosiers have received at least one Player of the Week honor in all but one of the weekly mentions this season.

Eriq Zavaleta has been named twice and Jacob Bushue and Caleb Konstanski have been honored as well.

The Hoosiers will face Notre Dame this Wednesday as the former No. 4 Fighting Irish will try to makeup for their 2-1 loss to Louisville on Saturday.
