Offense not the only thing hot against Fresno

Hey folks, My trusty live feed broadcast just filled me in on a rather interesting situation in IU's game tonight against Fresno State. It would appear that, up 8-0 in the top of the eighth, Josh Phegley stepped in and was promptly drilled in the back with a fastball from the Fresno State pitcher. Tracy Smith came out to argue that the hit was intentional, and apparently things escalated into something of a bench-clearing affair.

Blowing the losing streak apart

Hey folks, The Hoosiers finally got off the schnide today with a 16-4 win over New Mexico State in the second round of the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic in sunny Fresno, Calif. The Hoosiers rode a 4-for-5 day from sophomore shortstop Evan Crawford for the win.

Eric Gordon on cover of Slam magazine

Gordon is one of three players (the other two being Kansas State's Michael Beasley and Memphis' Derrick Rose) the magazine proclaims will be the next big NBA star. I guess the magazine didn't consult with IU fans before declaring Gordon NBA ready.

Zagoria talks Ebanks, IU recruiting

I spoke with Adam Zagoria on the phone this morning about the Devin Ebanks situation. Although he revealed all he knows in his blog post Monday, he gave his insight on the situation, both with Ebanks and IU recruitment in general. After speaking with Ebanks' prep coach and AAU coach on Monday, Zagoria said he gets the feeling that Ebanks is "just sort of uncertain and ambivalent" about the situation at IU, not knowing who the Hoosiers' future coach will be.

Ebanks meets with IU coaches, will be in Indianapolis this weekend

On his blog, Adam Zagoria of the Herald News in West Patterson, N.J. is reporting that Devin Ebanks, his mother and his prep coach met with IU interim coach Dan Dakich and assistant coach Ray McCallum on Monday. According to Zagoria, Ebanks will be on hand for the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis this weekend and will seek the necessary paperwork from IU officials for visiting other schools.

Hoosiers bobble two

Hello baseball fans, I am the aforementioned co-writer, Ryan, and I just thought it would be a good idea to update how IU faired in their two games so far this weekend. Unfortunately, anything good about the idea was stolen away by the results from Fresno.

Is Eric Gordon a lottery pick?

That is the question being posed by some fans on message boards and blogs right now, as well as by my dad who cannot use the internet very well.

IU falls to Penn State

We were not at the game because of spring break, but here is a wrap of the overtime loss to the Nittany Lions.

Quick tourney update

Hey folks, Close to my bedtime, but I thought I'd give you a quick tournament update of what's going on in Indianapolis. Upset-minded Illinois fought their way into the title game with wins last night over Ohio State and tonight over Michigan State (who's looked rather anemic on offense since coming south to Indianapolis). Gotta hand it to Jolette Law's club, they've really handled themselves well in the tournament. On the other side of the bracket, Purdue held off No.
