So what's the deal? Part II: intangibles.
Enjoying even more basketball now, watching my Hawks blow a very winnable game against Kirby's Bulls.

Here are the press conferences from last night's game below. Coach Jack was pretty happy from the big win.
Hey folks, Sitting here at home watching a replay of the second half of the IU-Purdue women's game (excitement defined), and I thought it a good time to touch on something pertinent to our many conversations together: In the midst of a seven-game skid, what do we think about these Hoosiers? For starters, I think all the optimists have been silenced.
-This is a little bit old but wanted to post it since its been in my inbox for a couple of days, but there has been a lot going on.
"They are all big wins." That's what Felisha Legette-Jack told me after I congratulated her after a win earlier in the season.
Times are tough for the Hoosiers. Things began to "snowball," as IU coach Tom Crean likes to say, when the Hoosiers returned from Maui off the coattails of a thrilling 81-79 victory over Chaminade.
Tonight the Hoosiers will battle the Boilermakers at 7p.m. at Assembly Hall. What will be on the line?
IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack says quite frankly this is Whitney's Thomas's team. The senior and graduate of Blooming North is playing for her third different coach this year but bringing great intensity and purpose to the team.
The week on the Opposing Bench we talked to Rusty Barnes. Rusty is the sports editor and women's basketball writer for the Purdue Exponent, the newspaper of Purdue.
The Hall was packed, the crowd was loud and the team was beatable. But for the eighth straight game the Hoosiers lost, losing to Penn State inside Assembly Hall for the first time in school history. It's been 38 days since IU got its fifth and most recent victory over Cornell on Dec.
Links are below. The Taber interview is cut off, because I dove into it a bit late, and Tom Crean's interview was too long to upload, but I brought you what I could.
Thought you might be interested in this information we learned today...so i will pass it along. Sophomore Haylie Linn is back in action for the Hoosiers.
In one of their most winnable games in conference season, the Hoosiers fell once again, losing, losing to Penn State inside Assembly Hall for the first time in school history. The game marked IU's eighth straight loss, the program's longest losing streak since 1964. Cold shooting and timely Nittany Lions' baskets plagued the Hoosiers (5-12, 0-5) from the start.
With the Hoosiers 64-61 victory over Wisconsin on Thursday and Ohio State loosing their first conference game against Minnesota the Hoosiers, Buckeyes, and Boilermakers are now in a 3-way tie for first in the conference.
Got back from practice a little while ago, where we media types met with IU coach Tom Crean and selected players (Nick Williams and Tom Pritchard this time) before tomorrow's game. We caught the last few minutes of practice, just free throw practice mostly, but something struck me about the way IU players and coaches were behaving -- They were loose. Not loose like, 'Great, practice is over, I can go home,' loose or 'Man, it's nice not to be out in this frigid weather' loose, but genuinely without great anxiety or nervousness.
Happy Friday, everyone. The first week of classes is over for students (hooray), but like the Hoosiers, a long road lies ahead.
Cassady is one of the greatest players to play for IU women's basketball. In a career that spanned from 1998-2002 she accumulated 1,301 points, good for 11th all-time.
On Thursday former IU coach Kathi Bennett returned to Assembly Hall for the first time since she was the head coach of the Hoosiers from 2001-2005.
FINAL SCORE: HOOSIERS 64 BADGERS: 61 8.4 to go and 2 shots for Davis. Makes the first. Makes second.
