Lineup vs. Minnesota
And here's the surprise. OK, not a great surprise, but I tried. No. 10, rf, Brian Lambert No. 35, 1b, Jerrud Sabourin No.
Live blog??!?!?!
Hey folks, That is correct. I am going to make my triumphant return to Inside Pitch by offering any and all the chance to blog live with me during IU's second-day match-up with Minnesota.
Hoosiers pound Purdue
IU took an early lead and never looked back Wednesday afternoon during their 9-1 victory against Purdue in their first Big Ten Tournament game. A leadoff home run by senior Chris Hervey in the bottom of the first began the onslaught of run support to come for junior pitcher Eric Arnett. The Hoosiers scored a run in the third and fourth and then poured it on in the fifth and capitalized on a Boilermaker error to lead off the inning.
Second Round: Preliminary Big 10 Predictions
By Brian Smith Special to Under The Rock With a plethora of bowl options, even teams that do not finish in the upper half of the Big 10 standings can make a bowl game. One team that could make a run at the upper echelon of the Big 10 standings is Michigan State.
Hoosier honors keep rolling
Eric Arnett. Matt Bashore. Josh Phegley. Their names just keep on appearing, and so do new awards. But a new name was added to the award's list. Freshman Alex Dickerson led all conference freshman with his 14 longballs and 52 RBI to earn him Big Ten Freshman of the year honor.
Twitter War: Crean vs. Cal
Thanks for the comments on my scouting report of Teague and Ferguson. There was one in particular that asked me to allude on why Kentucky's John Calipari has a much greater Twitter following than IU's Tom Crean.
Which Hoosier hurler, slugger deserves MVP?
Leading up to the Big Ten Tournament, here are my thoughts. Pitchers Matt Bashore and Eric Arnett along with catcher Josh Phegley have all been honored in the last day - Bashore with Big Ten player of the Week honors, Arnett as one of 15 semifinalists named for the College Baseball Foundation's National Pitcher of the Year honor, and Phegley as one of 13 semifinalists for the nation's top catcher's award, the Coleman Company Johnny Bench award. So which one of these juniors, if any, do you think should earn MVP?
Bashore earns conference honor
In case you missed it, Matt Bashore pitched one hell of a game, or better yet one hell of a May. Beating Michigan State Friday 6-1, Bashore pitched a near-flawless game.
Marquis Teague/Dominique Ferguson Notes
Greetings! I'm an unfamiliar name to most of our readers, but I wanted to introduce myself to you all and let you know I am looking forward to a great summer covering IU hoops.
Preliminary Big 10 Predictions
By Brian Smith Special to Under The Rock It's early to make full-blown predictions for the upcoming Big 10 football season, due mainly to off season injuries and the like.
Williams headed to Ole Miss
One of the two transferring Hoosiers has found a home. Nick Williams, a 6-foot-5 guard/forward from Mobile, Ala., will transfer to Ole Miss, the school confirmed today.
Pitcher and catcher named national award semifinalists
The pitcher and catcher combination of Eric Arnett and Josh Phegley contributed to IU's second consecutive appearance in the Big Ten Tournament.

Big Ten Bracket Announced
An Ohio State win and a Minnesota loss on the final day of the season gave the Buckeyes the advantage into the Big Ten Tournament.
Dominique Ferguson: IU attractive because of location
Lawrence North forward Dominique Ferguson told Sean today that he likes IU because the location would make it easy for his parents to attend games, opening a door for Hoosier fans looking for big-name commitments in the 2010 class. The consensus five-star recruit, who says his versatility is his greatest strength, was once committed to Kentucky, but reopened the process when Billy Gillespie left Lexington.
Why I love Kyrie Irving
Per Inside the Hall: "I'm going to major in journalism. I heard they have one of the best journalism schools in the country, so they showed me around there." Why yes, we do, Mr. Irving.
Teague decision to come in June
It's been stewing for months, and it might soon come to a finish. I'm talking about Marquis Teague's commitment saga. Our boy Sean Morrison was one of a handful of reporters present during an interview earlier today, when Teague said he expects to make a final decision in June.
Thomas: I'm committed to OSU
Deshaun Thomas, he of Ft. Wayne, Bishop Luers and many the recruiting wishlist, reaffirmed his commitment to Thad Matta and Ohio State, according to friend of the Basketblog Ryan Gregg. "I like the teachers, the campus and I like coach Thad Matta," Thomas told reporters. Thomas committed to OSU early in high school but was one of a handful of top recruits IU fans hoped might be shaken loose of early commitments by Tom Crean's arrival.
