Hoosiers begin final round on Sunday

The women's golf team finished Saturday in third place at the Mary Fossum Invitational. The Hoosiers are eight shots behind first place Purdue and five behind second place Michigan State.

IU defeats WMU, 23-19

In another close contest, the IU football team takes a key fumble recovery in their own red zone to walk away with a 23-19 over the Western Michigan Broncos. WMU was driving toward the IU end zone in the final two minutes of the game, but DE Greg Middleton forced the ball loose and Justin Carrington recovered it, sealing the game for the Hoosiers. Hoosiers edge Lobos 3-2

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The No. 12 IU Hoosiers walked away with its first win of the season this evening against New Mexico with a 3-2 decision. Will Bruin, Alex Purdie and Lee Hagedorn scored on the evening.

Hoosiers name captains for Saturday's duel

Before the IU football team takes the field to battle the Western Michigan Broncos, coach Bill Lynch had the small, yet important, matter of naming game captains. This week, running back Bryan Payton, safety Austin Thomas and linebackers Matt Mayberry and Tyler Replogle will represent the Hoosiers on the field as team captains. Payton is the only captain who is not a starter heading into week two, but with Zach Davis-Walker and, surprisingly, Darius Willis out, Payton should get extended playing time, with only Demetruis McCray and Trea Burgess ahead of him. Game time is set for noon at Memorial Stadium.

IU men's basketball finalizes television schedule

The IU men's basketball season is just around the corner, and the team recently shored up its television schedule for two exhibition games and four non-conference contests. All six games will be played in Assembly Hall and are set to appear on the Big Ten Network.

Tom Crean's plug for IU football

If you haven't seen it already, check out Tom Crean's Twitter video. Obviously, he spends most of the time talking about basketball, but even in the video, he's supporting IU football. Crean at 5:25 into the video: "Student support I thought you were unbelievable at the game Thursday night when we beat Eastern Kentucky.

Crean talks IU hoops in 'Twitter video'

IU coach Tom Crean has yet to meet with the media this year at Assembly Hall. But behold, the "first ever Twitter video." In the six-minute You Tube video (originally posted from his Twitter account), Crean gives updates on most of the team, even going so far as to confirm what I had heard about freshman Bawa Muniru attending class in a sportcoat and tie.
