Myles Brand, the former president of Indiana University, has died of cancer, according to the NCAA.
IU-Michigan on ESPN or ESPN2
The IU-Michigan game will air on ESPN or ESPN2, according to a press release from the media relations department.
IU football student season ticket sales pass 6,000
According to IU Vice President and Athletics Director Fred Glass, over 6,000 students have purchased season tickets for the Hoosiers' 2009 football season.

Cox, Haverly earn weekly Big Ten awards
Two members of the IU volleyball team earned weekly Big Ten awards for their performances in last weekend's Hampton Inn Invitational at Ohio University. Sophomore libero Caitlin Cox, the most valuable player of the tournament, was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman outside hitter Jordan Haverly earned Freshman of the Week honors. Follow the jump for more on these two. Cox amassed a total of 88 digs throughout the tournament, posting at least 20 against Delaware, Eastern Kentucky and Murray State.

Poole: IU is out
Not really a shocker here, but with the addition of Victor Oladipo to the IU 2010 basketball class, Stacey Poole told the people at Palmetto Sports that IU is out of contention for his college play.
Soffner earns first honors as goalkeeper MVP
Redshirt freshman goalie Luis Soffner walked away from his first weekend on the road with two victories and a shut-out on his resume.
Five Hoosiers earn honors from Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament
Senior midfielders Eric Alexander and Lee Hagedorn, along with junior midfielder Rich Balchan and sophomore forward Will Bruin were named to the Mike Berticelli Memorial tournament's all-tournament team. The Hoosiers beat New Mexico on Friday 3-2 and Seattle University 2-0 to win the tournament. Balchan was also named defensive MVP. Freshman goalie Luis Soffner earned goalkeeper MVP for his 12-save weekend. Follow the jump for more stats from the games. IU Field Hockey loses 5-2 to Wake Forest
IU Field Hockey ends its trip to North Carolina with a 5-2 loss to No. 3 Wake Forest. The Hoosiers couldn't keep up with the many talented players from Wake Forest. The first two goals came from Wake Forest. The two goals were scored by senior midfielder Raisa Schiller off a penalty corner in the ninth minute and less than eight minutes later the other goal came from sophomore back Kaitlin Piosa. The next two goals came from the Hooisers. The first was on the 18: 17 mark from a rebound shot from sophomore forward Corey Brautigam and the next 36 seconds later off a breakaway from junior forward Lena Grote. The next two goals from Wake Forest before the half ended. The next two goals came from senior midfielder Melissa Martin off a penalty corner and sophomore midfielder Faith Adams scored off a penalty corner. At the 52:20 mark, the last Demon Deacon goal came from senior forward Kim Romansky by a penalty corner pass. The talented roster from the Demon Deacons had five goals from five different girls. On Saturday, the Hoosiers play their first home game of the season at 1 pm against Ball State.
Big Ten Power Rankings, week 2
What a weird week in the Big Ten. Two teams (Ohio State and Purdue) played better than expected in losses while several winners (Wisconsin and Northwestern, in particular) left more questions than answers after their close wins. Two teams (Penn State and Michigan) won games that makes the conference look good and two teams (Indiana and Minnesota) barely won games in which most BCS teams should be expected to win (but neither team was expected to have an easy victory). Michigan State, a popular sleeper pick in the conference, fell victim to the Jr.

IU volleyball sweeps Ohio tournament
With the Big Ten schedule ahead, the IU volleyball team was looking to make a statement. The Hoosiers (9-2) did just that by winning all four of their matches and claiming the championship at the Hampton Inn Invitational at Ohio University. "(Our blocking) was much better," IU coach Sherry Dunbar said.
Men's and women's golf each finish 3rd
The women's golf team finished third this weekend in its first tournament of the fall, the Mary Fossum Invitational.
