Redshirt freshman goalie Luis Soffner walked away from his first weekend on the road with two victories and a shut-out on his resume. Soffner had seven saves on Friday evening against New Mexico and five saves on Sunday morning against Seattle University.

Here are some of Soffner's thoughts after his performance this weekend:

On being named the Mike Berticelli Tournament goalkeeper MVP:

"It's obviously a big honor for me. It's my first individual award as a collegiant player. I obviously couldn't have done it without my defense and my team."

On how this award is helping him become a better goalie:

"I think that gives me confidence and hopefully gives my teammates and other people confidence in me. It's a big honor and I'm just doing whatever I can to help the team."

On his thoughts on the tournament:

"Today in the second half was probably our best half that we put together. We had two good goals with Will (Bruin) and Andy (Adlard) and I think overall we played pretty well. We definitely know we can play better and that we're going to need to play better in order to make it farther in the post-season. It was only our third and fourth games and it was good to get two wins. We did very well, but I think there's a whole bunch of things we can improve on as a team too"
