Two members of the IU volleyball team earned weekly Big Ten awards for their performances in last weekend's Hampton Inn Invitational at Ohio University.
Sophomore libero Caitlin Cox, the most valuable player of the tournament, was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman outside hitter Jordan Haverly earned Freshman of the Week honors.

Cox amassed a total of 88 digs throughout the tournament, posting at least 20 against Delaware, Eastern Kentucky and Murray State. The sophomore also held opponents' hit percentages to a collective .193.
"I had talked with coach (Sherry) Dunbar and she told me I wasn't in the top-10 in the Big Ten (in digs)," Cox said. "That was some extra motivation for me to have a big weekend."
Haverly led the Hoosiers on the offensive front over the weekend, registering 77 kills over IU's four matches. Her 28 against Missouri State were a new career-high. The freshman also posted two double-doubles with a 17-kill, 13-dig performance against Delaware and a 28-kill, 12-dig outing against Missouri State.
"It felt really great," Haverly said of the outcome of the invitational.
The Hoosiers (9-2) will play host to the T.I.S. College Bookstore IU Invitational this weekend. IU will play three matches, the first Friday at 7 p.m. against 2008 Sweet Sixteen participant Western Michigan, and the last two Saturday at 10 a.m. against Alabama A&M and at 7 p.m. against North Carolina A&T.
