Six members of the 2009-2010 women's basketball team earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the spring semester, including Danilsa "City" Andujar, Jasmine Davis, Jori Davis, Lindsay Enterline, Georgie Jones, and Andrea McGuirt. The team also had 5 players on the 2009-2010 Winter Academic All-Big Ten team as well.
My story on IU freshman women's tennis player Leslie Hureau's earning Ohio Valley Region Rookie of the Year honors ran in today's issue of the Indiana Daily Student. Hureau had already began her journey home to France by the time we had decided to run the story, but I was able to contact her via email and get her reaction to garnering the distinction as well as her reflection on her freshman year. What was your first reaction to being named Rookie of the Year? LH: I didn't expect anything; I was not even aware that the [Intercollegiate Tennis Association] gives this award every year.
Senior outfielder Jennifer Glueckert was named Second Team All-Big Ten on Wednesday (May 19). Glueckert, a native of South Bend, Ind., led the Hoosiers with a .356 overall average and was also tops in doubles (9) and triples (3). In Big Ten play, she hit .389 with four doubles and two triples to go along with seven RBI. The conference office also announced honorees from each of the 11 softball squads for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
Derek Drouin and Faith Sherrill were selected as Big Ten Field athletes of the year, and of the Big Ten conference championships. Eight Hoosiers earned All-Big Ten honors.
Junior Lachlan Ferguson is the 2010 Ohio Valley regional nominee for the ITA/Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award.
Freshman Leslie Hureau has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Ohio Valley Region Rookie of the Year.
A WNBA 2011 mock draft has projected IU's Jori Davis to be picked #32 by Seattle. Only one other Big Ten player is projected in the 3 rounds.
UPDATE: Apparently IU doctors cleared Negedu as well, but the Hoosiers did not want to take the risk with Negedu's heart. The LA Times is reporting that Emmanuel Negedu will transfer to New Mexico, from Tennessee.

IU pulled in three event wins and two second place finishes on day two of the Big Tens. Derek Drouin won the high jump, Faith Sherrill won the shot put, and De'Sean Turner won the 3,000m steeplechase.
Walter Offutt, the former four-star recruit from Indianapolis, is headed to Ohio University. The combo guard, who originally played at Ohio State before transferring to Wright State, chose the Bobcats instead of the Hoosiers. "Yes going to Ohio!" Offutt wrote in a text message. Having already played in the Big Ten, Offutt would not have been able to accept an athletic scholarship at IU.
Former Hoosier and current Oklahoma City Thunder player DJ White will be hosting his 2nd annual DJ White Hoosier Stars Basketball Camp on Saturday, September 18.

Last night we caught up with several players IU is reportedly interested in, including Darryl Baker (Jeffersonville), Devin Davis (Warren Central), Kellen Dunham (Pendleton Heights), Gary Harris (Hamilton SE), Ron Patterson (Broad Ripple), and Kellon Thomas (Southport). Some highlights of last night: U16 Indiana Elite, consisting of Kellen Dunham, Ron Patterson, and Kellon Thomas, defeated Team Illinois 70-27.
The IU women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 by #28 Vanderbilt(14-9) in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Hoosiers(15-10) finished the season ranked #41 nationally. Check the IDS publication on Monday for a full wrap of the Hoosiers' first round exit.
The IU wrestling team has the 7th best recruiting class in the country, according to Intermat's recruiting rankings.
The IU women finished Friday in 3rd place with 10 points, while the men finished tied for 6th with 8 points.

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound Warren Central forward Devin Davis just finished his freshman season but has landed offers from both Purdue and IU in the last week. It's been reported that Davis received the offer while taking an unofficial visit to IU yesterday, according to peegs. Davis will be in Bloomington tonight and this weekend for the adidas May Classic tournament.
