Indiana University’s total enrollment rose to nearly 90,000 students across all its campuses this fall, according to a Sept. 3 press release.
The release, using numbers from IU’s Aug. 31 census, announced IU Bloomington received applications from over 81,000 students. Of the new undergraduate class, 43% has a 4.0 grade-point average, making this IUB’s most academically accomplished class.
IU Bloomington is now home to the second largest class in its history.
IU Online, IU Indianapolis and IU’s regional campuses experienced record interest from undergraduate students. Overall, new undergraduate student enrollment hit a record-breaking 16,911, and new undergraduate student applications have increased 17.3% since 2024.
“At a time when students have more choices than ever, growing enrollment and the academic strength of these new students are a powerful vote of confidence in IU,” IU President Pamela Whitten said in the release.
IU Indianapolis saw a year-over-year enrollment increase of 12.5%, while the regional campuses saw a 5.3% increase.
IU Online reached record enrollment numbers of over 11,000 students and serves more Indiana residents in online programs than any other public institution.
Regional campuses across the state had a 4.7% increase in applications, showing a higher demand for an affordable four-year degree, the statement said.
Indiana University as a whole graduates more students than any other four-year university in Indiana.
