In its first-ever Little 500, Phi Mu found itself in the lead pack with about 30 laps to go.Then-junior Jeni Gillenwater trailed only three or four others. She and her team were in perfect position to not only finish in the top five, but to win the race.

Gill “semiconscious,” riders to honor her at race

IU Nursing rider Lauren Gill is semiconscious and no longer requires the assistance of medical apparatus, but is still in critical condition at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Little 500 race director Jordan Bailey confirmed.

Freshman All-American Tre’tez Kinnaird had the best performance of his career, setting a new personal record of one minute and 47.99 seconds in the 800 meter run as he and other All-American runners paced the Hoosiers.

Ranked teams continue to trouble Hoosiers

After splitting a midweek doubleheader with Ball State, the IU softball team (13-33-1, 4-13) was swept in Evanston, Ill., by No. 25 Northwestern (27-11, 9-6). The loss gives IU an 0-11 record this season against ranked opponents.

IU wins via another walk-off victory

Second basemen Casey Rodrigue was the hero, as his walk off single in the bottom of the 12th inning gave IU (24-11, 10-1) the 2-1 victory over Michigan State (20-16, 5-6).

DeNato shines - again - in game one win

IU (23-11, 9-1) beat Michigan State (20-15, 5-5) in game one of their three-game stint Friday night 7-0. The Hoosiers combined timely hitting with another masterful DeNato – 8 innings pitched, 5 hits, 3 walks, 5 strikeouts, 0 runs on 113 pitches.

Softball to take on Northwestern

After splitting Wednesday’s doubleheader with Ball State, the IU softball team (13-30-1, 4-10) will travel to Evanston, Ill., to take on Big Ten foe Northwestern (24-11, 6-6 conference).
