Clinton's legacy too close to call

Tomorrow, the roller coaster ride that was Bill Clinton's presidency will come to an end. His eight-year tenure was marked with incredible popularity despite unprecedented controversy. Clinton will find his way into the history books for eight years of prosperity, and eight years of scandals. How will we remember this man? The man who brought us Whitewater and the man who brought us America's longest period of economic expansion. The man who had an Oval Office affair with an intern and the man who doubled the number of Head Start programs.

A birth of a magazine

·

Evan Tobias and Adam Pieroni might have begun a literary movement in Bloomington, but they seem to be lost for words on their newest endeavor. What started as a simple poetry reading in honor of the latest edition of the literary magazine, Cocked and Ready, has developed into a release party so complicated it can't be named, said senior Tobias, co-editor and founder of the magazine.

O'Bannon plans for progress

In his fifth "State of the State Address," Gov. Frank O'Bannon addressed the concerns of Indiana residents and outlined his plans for "keeping Indiana in a state of progress." Although O'Bannon praised the state's "unprecedented economic growth," he urged citizens to prepare for a decline in the state's economic condition, as the national economy slows as a whole. "Because our economy is cooling down, our reserve is precariously low," O'Bannon said.

'Comedy Caravan' celebrates 18 years

To Tom Sobel, Monday nights are a laughing matter. Every Monday night since 1983, people pack into local bar and club Bear's Place, 1316 E. Third St., to watch Sobel's master plan, Comedy Caravan, unfold. "Within the comedy community, Bear's Place is a legendary Monday night," said Sobel, president of TSM Entertainment, which manages comedy shows across the country. "Not only is it the longest running Monday night in standup comedy, but the only place in the world of comedy where two shows are done every Monday night, every week."
