Miscarriage of justice

During a newspaper internship this summer in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., I was called to report on national news in a city 45 minutes to the south, where an important court case hung in the balance. The story, like most good stories, began with one person trying to get things changed.

Hail to the T's

To any informed citizen, 2008 only means one thing: unofficial presidential T-shirts! All election decisions this year can and should be made based on whose campaign merchandise is most in line with your needs. For example, if you support free music downloading, you should vote for Barack Obama in 2008. He has campaign T-shirts that read “Barack and Roll.” Clearly he supports the free trade of music on the Internet. I bet he’s written some bills up in Congress about that, but I’m not going to bother to look. Why do research when all the facts are spelled out on a white ringer-T?

Hoosiers first

Many of us at IU are not the truest of Hoosiers. That is to say, we come from various backgrounds, many of us from outside the fine state of Indiana, and some native Hoosiers relate more to Chicago than Indianapolis. We’re lookin’ at you, Region Rats. Though we disparage the Hoosier State from time to time, even non-native Hoosiers come to love this fine state of soybeans, basketball, and also, we are told, other stuff. The out-of-staters among us are happy to attend IU, but we understand well that IU, being at least partially funded by the state of Indiana, has a duty to serve specifically the interests of Indiana students.
