"Alive Day Memories":

In this HBO documentry, James Gandolfini sits down with wounded Iraqi soldiers to hear their memories of their "alive day," the day they almost died but lived to tell about it. U.S. army Sgt. Bryan Anderson lost three of his limbs on Oct. 23, 2005. What were you doing that day?

Britney Spears:

She looked like a nicely-painted, half-naked zombie stumbling around the stage attempting to lip synch at the VMAs last Sunday. Britney Spears: My anti-drug.

Kenny Chesney:

The country star released Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates on Sept. 11. With Kanye and 50 sales potentially canceling each other out, Chesney may very well outsell both of them. Chesney fans have been lining up in front of Wal-Mart in anticipation.

NFL season kickoff:

Faith Hill, Kelly Clarkson and John Mellencamp all showed up to the Circle City and put on a concert before the Colts-Saints game. It's not Prince playing "Purple Rain" in the purple rain at the Super Bowl, but it's still fun.

"Abbey is Sile":

This YouTube video featuring Kristen Schall of "Flight of the Conchords" fame, is sweeping the internet and is WEEKEND's favorite distraction this week.

Elvis Costello:

He's coming to IU Oct. 19 with Bob Dylan and it's easy to assume there'll be little competition over which artist fans are most excited to see. Both are Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, both are still producing top-selling records and both play critically-acclaimed live shows. But Bob Dylan ranked second in Rolling Stone's 2004 list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Still, after hearing Costello's 32-year-tested perfect pitch, he may win in the voice competition.
