Hoosiers pile up wins in Orlando matches

The Hoosiers, who debuted at No. 29 — one spot above last year’s final standing — in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national team rankings released Tuesday, have gone 21-8 thus far at the event, with wins against opponents representing Louisville, Radford and Alabama.

Hoosiers fall in meet at Michigan

In their meet in Ann Arbor, Mich., this season and their first meet in more than a month, both IU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams fell to Michigan on Saturday, with the men losing 166-130, and the women getting edged 151.5-148.5.

An August graduation threw Chelsea Gill into the real world without a determined acting job, without her twin sister and with family troubles on her mind. It was a hard transition made even more difficult by rooting herself in one of the busiest cities in the nation­ — Chicago.“To not think about it for, like, an hour every day, I’d watch a Jason Segel movie,” Gill said.

Freshman McCurty continues to develop her game

After winning last week’s Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, IU freshman center Quaneisha McCurty saw only nine minutes of action during IU’s (5-12, 0-4) Sunday loss to Northwestern (11-5, 1-2) at Assembly Hall 69-61.

In the middle of the semester, Max was still trying to figure out this new system. He was floating through class, finding his way in a group, but he was still lost somewhere in the middle at a big school. He was fitting in, but he wanted to stand out.

Pictura exhibits experiences by former NYC cop

Antonio Bolfo’s exhibit “IMPACT” is on display at Pictura Gallery this month, showing life in the notoriously dangerous South Bronx housing projects in New York. Bolfo took pictures from the perspective of the rookie police officers who are assigned to the area, attempting to show the cops’ humanity.

Despite unseasonably warm January weather, Hermann Serfling used a chainsaw and hand tools to construct art out of a 300-pound block of ice Friday at WonderLab, a science museum geared toward children.
