Bills to watch: concussions and hunting

SB 222 would add training for coaches and increased restrictions related to concussions for student athletes. SJR 9 says the right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife “is a valued part of Indiana’s heritage and shall be forever preserved for the public good.”

Bills to watch: diplomas and deer

A house bill could be the first step in creating a statewide requirement for a technical skills-based high school diploma, and a senate bill is addressing the problem of deer on runways.

Bills to watch: Education standards and providing firearms to felons

Senate Bill 91 adds a definition of “college and career readiness” to the state’s education standards, and Senate Bill 169 makes it a level 5 felony to give someone a firearm if the provider knows that person is legally ineligible from possessing a firearm or intends to use the firearm to commit a crime.

No vote for HJR 3 in November

When the full Senate votes on HJR 3, it will do so without the controversial second sentence, the one which banned civil unions and any similar legal status.

Check up on two bills in the works. One would change how students would pay for college in Indiana and another is from a Senator who wants to put Indiana in the Central Time Zone.
