IUPUI gives students graduation countdown clocks

IUPUI has given about 700 freshmen credit-card-sized clocks that count down the days and hours until their graduation. College officials say the clocks put the goal of on-time graduation in front of students every day.

LOS ANGELES — When Michael Jackson died in June, he was just days away from launching a 50-show run of comeback concerts in London. Now, video footage of preparations for those performances have become “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” a documentary opening worldwide Tuesday.

The Bloomington Songwriters Showcase at the Player’s Pub on Monday brought four local, national and world singer-songwriters to play together in a set in which each singer performs four or five songs.

Creating closetless culture

For a city with the eighth-largest per-capita gay population in the nation, GLBT culture seems to be reduced to a week-long film festival, wild dance party and the warm-fuzzy welcoming feeling just about anyone in Bloomington can find.
