Cross Country men, women place second, lose to Oklahoma St.

Indiana men’s and women’s cross country teams came up short in their bids for an upset, as each team placed second Saturday at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.

The Nittany Lions turned the ball over twice in the red zone and having to settle for three field goals in five trips inside IU’s 20-yard line. Even though Penn State eventually defeated IU 16-10, sophomore cornerback Lawrence Barnett said the defense fought to the end.

In IU’s first conference opener with IU Coach Kevin Wilson, the Hoosiers fell 16-10 against Joe Paterno and Penn State despite a first-quarter lead and a late comeback attempt in the fourth quarter.

French club promotes culture with petanque

The French Club sponsored a game of petanque, a popular French game similar to Bocce Ball, Friday in Dunn Meadow. The club hopes to explore different regions of France and introduce students to French culture.

Can O' Worms weekend unleashed on local scene

Fans squeezed into Russian Recording for the finale of the Can O’ Worms Rock ‘N’ Roll Weekend, and the room was packed tighter than a tin of sardines.Numerous bands, many of which are based in Bloomington, came together for the music festival last weekend, and were treated to various bands and types of music.

This was the start of the Bloomington Playwrights Project’s new series of all-original plays titled “Bomb/Shell,” which features eight plays, each lasting no longer than ten minutes and drawing from the theme “Making War Making Peace.”

Former soldier Anthony Ray Halliday describes his struggles with friends’ suicides and deaths and his run-ins with the law since he got back from Iraq, where he served as a military police officer.

Inebriated man allegedly breaks into WonderLab, steals stuffed river otter

Scott Shake, 28, was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly breaking a window at WonderLab, The Museum of Science, Health and Technology, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Steve Kellams said. He also said Shake allegedly stole a stuffed river otter.
