Papa Roach “F.E.A.R.” Grade: B- Speaking of bands you may have forgotten still existed, Papa Roach released a new album, F.E.A.R., this week, and it’s probably exactly what you’d expect from the nu metal band in their 22nd year together. Papa Roach still feels like a throwback band that makes you smile when it comes on the radio.
The 2015 Sundance Film Festival answers our call for diversity in film
There is no intense plot line or big event coming in the future
"Foxcatcher" Grade: A He’s a far cry from Michael Scott. I speak of Steve Carell, of course, in his transformative role of John du Pont in Bennett Miller’s 2014 awards contender, “Foxcatcher.” Before I get into Carell’s unbelievable performance, allow me to sing my praises for “Foxcatcher” as a whole. Undeniably one of the best films of the season, “Foxcatcher” is the story of a wrestler, Mark Schultz, played by Channing Tatum, and his quest for excellence, a feat he believes he’ll achieve with the coaching of the mentally unstable, richer-than-God heir to the du Pont family fortune, John du Pont. I always say that the hardest thing to get right in a film – more specifically, for the director to get right – is tone.
“Mortdecai” Grade: C Angry Russians, scary terrorists, and stolen Nazi art, in a film full of typical characters, “Mortdecai” is not so typical. Filled with slap-stick humor and lavish sets, “Mortdecai” takes the viewer across the world, getting the main character in all sorts of trouble. Johnny Depp transforms himself into the character of Charlie Mortdecai, a pompous, British, shady art dealer with a mustache awaiting its day of reckoning.
"Man Seeking Woman" Grade B+ The stakes are high and there is a crisis afoot. At the round table of the Center For Important Emergencies sit military men, scientists and anyone who can help in this time of dire need.
“Broad City” Grade: A- Good news: the season premier of “Broad City” was not a fluke.
“The Boy Next Door” Grade: D If I pay for the U-Haul, will “The Boy Next Door” please move away? Jennifer Lopez dips back into the acting pool as Claire Peterson, a high school English teacher going through a divorce.
