My co-editor in chief, Michael Hughes, and I went into this summer thinking it would be easy. Summer staff only prints twice a week, there is generally less news that happens on campus and in town with students gone and we knew we had a great staff to back us up. But as the industry goes we were hit hard with news.

Rick Van Kooten, interim vice provost for research, lays out the plans for IU's Grand Challenges selection process at the open town hall meeting in Whittenberger Auditorium Monday. IU will choose five Grand Challenges proposed by faculty members to strive for in the next five years.


Peace Corps Associate Director Helen Lowman tells her own story and introduces the "Special Event: Peace Corps send off celebration and Returned Volunteer Panel" on Wednesday at the Career Development Center. Volunteers shared their stories and experiences during the event.
