StreetSideInvestor.com, an Internet company created by IU students, provides online financial information for individual investors. Since its launch in June 2000, StreetSideInvestor.com has been producing financial content. Hundreds of young entrepreneurs have failed to keep their dot-com businesses alive. The team at StreetSideInvestor.com learned from the mistakes of some of these unsuccessful ventures. Instead of spending their revenue on advertisements, they focused on developing quality information for online investors.

Lawmakers should consider proposal

Many lawmakers have been stating their opposition to Democratic Gov. Frank O'Bannon's proposal to raise cigarette taxes by 50 cents a pack. But they should realize that O'Bannon's proposal would offset the budget shortfall and allow funding for entities that might otherwise be neglected. With the $923 million budget shortfall that O'Bannon announced last week, lawmakers are trying to figure out where that money can be recovered. In early proposals, higher education funding has suffered.

Dear Readers, As some of you might have figured out, I'll be graduating in a little less than two weeks, thus ending (at least temporarily) my four-year run as the IDS Sexpert. It's been a wild ride. When I started writing for the IDS, I never thought the column would take off the way it did.
