There is no interaction between movies and the audience except for movie patrons paying for their tickets. Interacting with a movie was limited to yelling at the screen. All changed with "I'm Your Man," recently released on DVD.\n"I'm Your Man" was released in theaters in 1992 and bombed. The movie was fully interactive, with the audience telling the actors what to do. Questions such as "Should I run away from the trouble, or stay and fight?" were posed, and the audience would vote using hand-held remotes. The scene would then develop depending on how the audience voted. With the invention of DVDs, people now have a chance to see and participate in the first and only interactive movie.\nThe movie didn't bomb because of new technology or because people didn't like the idea of editing a film. It bombed because the movie is horrible. The writing is bad, the acting is terrible and everything else is just cheesy. Other than these technicalities, the movie is great. It's reminiscent of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, and that is cool.\nThe first time through, the movie is exciting, but the big problem is it's only about 20 minutes long. This isn't a film -- it's more of a trailer. The audience has to watch it at least four times to see the whole movie with every option picked. This gets old.\nThere are special features on the disc that make the "adventure" a little more tolerable. The outtakes are funny because the actors suck. These actors include Kevin Seal, one of the first MTV VJs, and Mark Metcalf (Neidermeyer from "Animal House"). The commentary is interesting, but it jumps around a lot because the movie jumps around a lot. There is an interesting documentary about how the film was made, and this is the best part of the disc.\nThis is still a good disc because the concept is really interesting. Do not see the DVD because the story/film aspect is so bad. I hope this concept will be brought back with a good script and good acting, but probably not since "I'm Your Man" bombed so hard.
