City announces incentives for sustainability

The City of Bloomington’s Department of Economic and Sustainable Development has announced that it will accept applications for its Sustainability Partnership Grant Program. Deadline is July 1.

Local pool opens Saturday

Bryan Park Pool, which is located south of campus on Woodlawn Avenue, will open on May 25 and run through September 2. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

On Monday, May 20 at 7 p.m. Shadi Alkattan will give a presentation on the prospect for peace in war-torn Syria sponsored by the Bloomington Peace Action Coalition.

Mayor Mark Kruzan announced Bloomington will be recognizing Be Kind to Animals Week starting Sunday, along with the American Humane Association which has celebrated it every year since 1915.

Stoops honors Bloomington’s Tibetan high lama

Rinpoche, the director of Bloomington’s Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center  and Kumbum Chimtse Ling Temple, was the first Tibetan lama to lead prayer on the Senate floor before commencing business.

Local office awarded ‘General’s Cup’

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller awarded the Attorney General’s Cup on Monday to the Steven Douglas Law Office, recognizing its contributions to the March Against Hunger food drive.
