The fair-trade coffee, local produce, fresh cakes, pies and salads give it away -- Sugar and Spice has gone organic. The bakery and coffee shop, located on the second floor of the Indiana Memorial Union next to the IU Bookstore, was redesigned as part of a larger effort to remodel parts of the building.

Institute gets $1.3M for veterans' history project

The Corporation for National and Community Service has granted $1.3 million to the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at IU to be primarily used to document oral tales and recollections of disabled war veterans in the state of Indiana. Disabled students ages 14 to 21 will be involved in both planning and carrying out the program.

Bestest asbestos practice?

Last week, Residential Programs and Services warned students moving into Briscoe, McNutt and Forest quads and Tulip Tree apartments that the insulation of their dorm rooms and apartments contain asbestos. For Briscoe, McNutt and Forest, this took the form of scripted warnings read by resident assistants. For Tulip Tree -- home to many international students and their families, who might or might not be conversant in English -- RPS issued written warnings.

House Committee Denounces U.S. Intelligence

The non-profit organization Freedom House rates countries on political rights and civil liberties from "1" (most free) to "7" (least free). Iran is a "6,6". While more free than, say, North Korea, Iran is still a brutal dictatorship in which paramilitary groups and secret police attack demonstrators, journalists are tortured and Iranian agents are dispatched to assassinate dissidents abroad.

House Committee Denounces U.S. Intelligence

The failure of U.S. intelligence agencies to come up with substantial information regarding the Iranian nuclear project is unacceptable. U.S. intelligence is given too much money each year to not be able to provide decision-makers with information on any topic, even a closed society like Iran.
