Animated awesomeness

·

It’s not often an anime movie makes it into mainstream American theaters, but “Ponyo,” the new masterpiece by celebrated Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki (“Spirited Away”), has been deemed by Disney as worthy for release in the United States.

Number ‘9’ a win for action movies

·

There have been several big-budget action movies so far this year: “Wolverine,”  “Watchmen,”  “G.I. Joe,”  “Transformers 2” and so on. Every one of them has been disappointing except “District 9.”

Gossip Girl

More than enough to ‘Gossip’ about

·

Summer houses in the Hamptons, sleeping with older women for money, having a secret relationship with your English teacher – sounds like a typical senior year of high school, right? That’s the general gist of things in season two of “Gossip Girl.”

"Lost Highway"

Willie’s lost his way

·

For years, this country cowboy has been pumping out album after album of catchy and unforgettable tunes and duets. But Willie Nelson’s newest compilation of songs from notable albums doesn’t fit together at all.

Hot Mess

Snake-bitten by suck

·

"Ursa Major"

3eb’s major comeback

·

The much-anticipated “Ursa Major” has been six years in production and has now finally delivered despite some major delays.

Nightlife fun on the cheap

·

Let’s face it. It seems everyone is living up to the “Broke College Student” stereotype these days. With textbook prices curiously rising every time we return to the bookstore, the dough in our pockets is just as curiously plummeting.

Town and campus beg to be explored

·

Whether on campus or off, students can find their fill of lively, entertaining community events that help them get settled and showcase their new home’s cultural diversity.

Coming soon: a movie for every taste

·

It doesn’t matter whether you like action, horror, documentaries or romantic comedies; vintage, indie or foreign films; if people watch it, Bloomington has a film series that shows it.

Freshmen Induction Ceremony

IU inducts new freshman class

·

This year’s Freshman Welcome Induction Ceremony welcomed freshmen and their families with speeches by prominent University figures such as President Michael McRobbie, Provost Karen Hanson and IU Student Association President Peter SerVaas.
