MCPL campaign nears final goal

Children, balloon animals and carnival games filled the Monroe County Public Library on Tuesday in honor of another successful year for its summer reading program. Though this party was for the kids, the library might soon have its own reason for celebration: The Friends of the Library are about $3,600 away from meeting their Campaign for Excellence fundraising goal.

All Access improves purchasing flexibility

The All Access Plan will allow students to pre-pay for money to be put in their Campus Access accounts. Students can choose a plan from $400 to $1,400 and will receive half of the amount each semester. Payment for the plan will be billed directly to the student’s bursar account.

IU connections receive award to link scientists across countries

The National Science Foundation awarded $9.2 million to IU for two high-speed international network services, half to continue the TransPAC3 network connection to Asia and half for a new connection to Europe named America Connects to Europe.

Open Folklore to uncover ‘gray literature’

IU Libraries and the American Folklore Society have started work on Open Folklore, a new, free search engine that will allow users to access most of the already published folklore studies, as well as the previously elusive “gray literature,” all in one place.

Helping my old roots to grow

Nate Stanger, a Bloomington High School South alumnus, helped with the "All for All" campaign to help raise funding for extracurricular teachers' stipends. His participation in the play “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” helped him to rediscover – and appreciate – Bloomington.

Student’s hand cut in friend feud

Wednesday, Aug. 4,2010 6:20 p.m.

An IU student was arrested after cutting another student’s hand at 6 p.m. Monday in the 10th Street parking lot. The IU Police Department received a call about the incident at 6:30 p.m.
