An Indiana State Trooper chased and returned fire at a man after he drew a gun, on Tuesday evening in Indianapolis.
Neither the trooper nor the suspect, Jason Edward Williams, 34, were injured, according to a press release by Indiana State Police.
The trooper approached Williams at the 600 block of North Livingston while attempting to locate a person wanted on warrant. Williams was working on his motorcycle that, after running its V.I.N. number, the trooper determined was stolen. As the trooper started to question the individual, Williams drew a handgun, pointed it at the officer and fled. The trooper chased Williams while taking fire and returning fire.
Williams entered a home on the 700 block of North Rochester and barricaded himself. Lengthy phone negotiations ensued with the police before Williams eventually surrendered without incident about 10 p.m.. He was wanted on warrant for burglary, auto theft and receiving stolen motorcycle parts. He was charged with a Class A Felony of attempted murder, according to the press release.
