IU Police Department Officer Brian Oliger spent move-in day biking around campus, talking with the cops scattered throughout Bloomington to make sure traffic was under control.
“It’s running just like usual,” Oliger said. “We’re trying our best to keep it flowing.”
He said 10th Street was the most congested, specifically at the intersection with
Sunrise Drive.
Kacy Weaver, the officer in charge of the parking lots surrounding Read Residence Center, described that intersection as a madhouse.
“I feel bad for whoever is over there trying to get in,” she said. “That’s all I’m hearing about over the radio.”
Oliger said move-in day is always chaotic and that this year is no worse than expected.
“We’re just trying to keep it as friendly as possible,” Oliger said. “People get frustrated when there is only one little area to park in, and they have to walk three blocks to get to the dorm.”
