The Monroe County Commission will meet tomorrow, August 27 at 9 a.m. in the Monroe County Courthouse to review a resolution opposing the proposed route of I-69 that will run through Monroe County. The resolution states that board members are strongly concerned with the potential environmental impact the proposed route will have on Monroe County and surrounding areas.
The board sent a letter to the Indiana Department of Transportation and the federal highway administration Aug. 17, requesting permission to extend the deadline for public comment by 180 days about the I-69 project, a transportation construction project that would extend the highway system to connect Indianapolis and Evansville.
Instead, the resolution proposes that the state transportation department should focus on the management of Ind. 37 corridor.
