Unsupervised children found wandering in parking lot

Officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded to a complaint Sunday that three young children had been wandering around a parking lot unsupervised for several hours.

Officers from the Bloomington Police Department confronted and shot a nude IU student who was discharging rounds from a firearm into the rear of a residence north of the IU campus early Friday.

IU Office of Parking Operations auctions impounded, abandoned bikes at annual event

The IU Office of Parking Operations conducted its annual Bike Auction on Saturday. Bikes that are impounded, not chained properly or abandoned for more than six months were auctioned at a reduced price. All proceeds benefit the IU Parking Operations’ “general fund,” which sponsors new parking lots, bike racks and safety escorts.

A day after ousting Louisville and etching its name in IU lore as one of the most successful teams in program history, the Hoosier men’s tennis squad was condemned to the same fate that befell its basketball brethren earlier this year, as Kentucky advanced at Indiana’s expense in the NCAA Tournament.

The IU softball team finished its season with a six-game winning streak and sweep of Michigan State in the team’s final series.

Hoosiers defeat Wildcats in weekend series

The Hoosiers’ baseball team entered a weekend series with the Northwestern University Wildcats sitting in second place in the Big Ten Conference standings. After the weekend series, the team remains in that second place spot.

A Fair of the Arts kicks off Saturday, shows local art

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department sponsored the season’s first A Fair of the Arts. The event, located in Showers Plaza at Eighth and Morton streets, was from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is scheduled to repeat once a month through October.

Jenn Cristy debuts new album at Jake’s Nightclub

Until 11 p.m., about 200 people waited for Cristy and her band to premiere all the songs from her newest album “Crawl.”Backed by three band members and two backup singers, the Jenn Cristy Band played an uncharacteristically late-night show that also included covers such as Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” and songs from Cristy’s previous three CDs.
