Indiana men’s basketball secured its seventh transfer portal addition Tuesday, as former University of Maryland Eastern Shore junior guard Justin Monden committed to the program. League Ready’s Sam Kayser first reported the news.

Monden spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Division II Georgia Southwestern State University. During his 2023-24 freshman season, Monden averaged 4.4 points and 1.4 assists per game. The 6-foot guard took a step forward the following year, scoring 12.2 points per game and adding 2.1 assists per contest.

In his lone season at Maryland Eastern Shore last season, Monden averaged six points and 1.6 assists in 20.7 minutes per game.

Prior to his collegiate career, Monden attended Heritage High School in North Carolina, before transferring to Word of God Christian Academy for his senior year. Current Indiana assistant coach Thomas Carr was on the coaching staff at Word of God during Monden’s tenure.

Monden, who is expected to have one year of eligibility remaining, will add backcourt depth to the Hoosiers, joining guards Markus Burton, Darren Harris, Jaeden Mustaf and Bryce Lindsay. With the acquisition of Monden, Indiana now has 12 players under scholarship for next season, leaving room for up to three more additions.
