S.O.U.L camp brings musical sounds, students to campus

This summer was the fourth year Camp S.O.U.L., which stands for “students obtaining unique musical levels,” brought high-school students to IU in mid-June The camp allows students to learn music and teaches them new vocal or instrumental techniques. It is just one of many camps that allows high school students extended learning experiences.

‘Chemical Ali’ sentenced to hang

Event brings fine arts, 50 artists to courthouse lawn

The sky may have been a dreary gray on Saturday, but Bloomington’s downtown square was the exact opposite. Swirls of colors and shapes sheltered under neat white tents clearly distinguished the 27th Arts Fair on the Square from any hint of the lackluster conditions.

To students, their professors can seem distant and aloof, more like objects than humans, like fake plants or pieces of office furniture. It is quite easy to forget that professors are people first, with feelings and emotions not totally dissimilar to those of their pupils. And on the most basic level, both students and professors are subject to the same ... urges.

Wake Up!

It’s not unusual for me to be shocked and appalled by our government. I count it as a sign of my own naivete that I am still consistently surprised by the lack of humanity and common decency displayed by the leaders of this country, and, frankly, their coddled constituency. There’s just so much to be enraged over that whenever it’s time to write a column, it’s hard to know where to begin.
