Hoosiers fall to Northeastern 55-42

Pulling away to a speedy 12-3 lead against the visiting Northeastern Huskies, the IU men’s basketball team looked like they used their nine-day layoff to full advantage.But then the Hoosiers became colder than the weather outside Assembly Hall.

President Bush: Automakers to get $17.4B

WASHINGTON – The Bush administration came to the rescue of the U.S. auto industry Friday, offering $17.4 billion in loans in exchange for concessions from the deeply troubled carmakers and their workers.

An IU football player was arrested early Thursday morning, stemming from a Wednesday burglary.Courtney “Cortez” Smith, 18, faces preliminary charges of burglary and robbery.

Indy Star: Gordon cites drug use on IU team caused rift between Hoosiers

In an interview with the Indianapolis Star, former IU guard Eric Gordon said drug use put a rift between the Hoosier players and derailed the team last season. While drug use often came up in the rumor mill last season, this is the first time anyone connected with the program has spoken out. WASHINGTON – The Federal Reserve has cut its target for a key interest rate to the lowest level on record and pledged to use “all available tools” to combat a severe financial crisis and prolonged recession.

Colts barely edge lowly Lions

INDIANAPOLIS – Whew. That was almost embarrassing. The Colts squeaked past the hapless Lions 31-21 in a game closer than the score indicated. Maybe the Colts forgot just because the Lions were 0-13 doesn’t mean they don’t get paid to play, too.
