An IU football player was arrested early Thursday morning, stemming from a Wednesday burglary.
Courtney “Cortez” Smith, 18, faces preliminary charges of burglary and robbery.
Smith is a freshman cornerback for the Hoosiers.
The Bloomington Police Department arrested Smith at about 5 a.m. Thursday and transported him to the Monroe County Jail, where he currently remains.
Football spokesman Jeff Keag released a statement saying, "We are aware of the situation and take this matter very seriously."
