Jacobs Music Studio New

New studio to change Third-Jordan intersection

The University West Apartments on Third Street will be demolished later this year to make room for a new studio for the Jacobs School of Music. The IU board of trustees approved the design, and the 85,000 square-foot Studio Building will be constructed on the northeast corner of Third Street and Jordan Avenue for an estimated $44 million.


Supreme Court to hear IUSA code violation petitions

The iUnity ticket for the IU Student Assocation filed Tuesday three separate petitions with the Student Body Supreme Court, which will hear one of the petitions today at 7 p.m. in the Maurer School of Law room 121.

Senior Stephanie Foreman was at a club listening to Justin Timberlake blare through the speakers when she began to feel the ground shake below her. At first she thought the vibration was from the people around her jumping, but soon she realized nobody was jumping as the ground began to increasingly tremble.

“Beauty and the Beast,” the Tony Award-winning adaptation of the Disney film, began its three-day run to an enthusiastic crowd. The audience included children eager to see the well-known story come to life onstage.

Student transforms coffee into surrealist art

To create the paintings Abi Haidar said he uses homemade coffee that he brews very densely and allows to settle into a thick consistency that he is able to paint with. He then transfers the coffee to canvas directly with a spoon, applying multiple layers to create darker colors and texture.

The Italian Vogue recently launched two Web sites: one dedicated to full-figured women and another for black women. Editor Beniamino Marini said the sites are supposed to drive traffic to Vogue Italia’s main Web site.

IU plummets to 11th at UCF Challenge

The IU women’s golf team headed into Tuesday’s final round at the UCF Challenge a mere five shots outside of second place. Unfortunately, a final-round 321 in rainy and windy conditions led to an 11th-place finish for the Hoosiers.

Attendance increase major step for IU

By the end of the 2009 season, the IU football team had only won one more game than it had in the previous year, going 4-8. The team lost to Purdue again. It finished at the bottom of the Big Ten again. It was the second-worst team in at-home attendance in the Big Ten again. But maybe that last fact isn’t as clear-cut as it seems. Home attendance increased by an average of more than 10,051 fans per game, the third-largest increase in the nation.
