Hey folks,
For those of you pining after slugger-turned-sharpshooter Kipp Schutz, who just recently left the IU basketball team to get healthy and rejoin the IU baseball team, fear not I say! Eric Arnett, the young right-hander, is still practicing with the Hoosiers, and will do so until baseball season starts.
One-time Louisville commit and soon-to-be-former Arizona Wildcat Jeff Withey, rumored in recent weeks to be considering IU as a possible transfer destination, will be going to Kansas, Rick Bozich reports.
Just caught ESPN's Stan Verrett in a wrongsie -- ESPN showed Doc Rivers' younger son, Austin, dropped 46 on Wheeler High School (Marietta, Ga.) in a interstate showdown, and Verrett said he thought Rivers' other son, Jeremiah, was in the NBDL.
As promised.
This one just wasn't pretty. The Hoosiers struggled mightily offensively, shooting just 40 percent from the field and turning the ball over 21 times.
Hey folks,
Hey folks,
IU coach Tom Crean met with media this afternoon in anticipation of the Hoosiers' clash with Northeastern on Monday night. I highlighted some of the main points, and you can listen to the full audio by clicking here if you are so inclined/have a free half hour.
Got word this afternoon that the Big Ten has decided to move its conference tournament to a neutral site, beginning this year in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament had previously been played at the home stadium of the No. 1 school in the conference, usually Michigan.
It really wasn't as close as the score tonight. The Hoosiers controlled the game in the second half and ran away with it until the last minute and a half, when they decided they'd done enough. Either way, no harm no foul, and maybe a lesson to learn from a pretty good outing.
Just came across this from ESPN, which says Randy Wittman was fired as coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wittman leaves after serving as an assistant or coach through parts of seven seasons in Minnesota.
Hey folks,
Just got done listening to the Falcons lose (a favored pastime), and I got the chance during the game to turn yesterday's game over in my head a little bit more. A few thoughts:
And so it ends. The Hoosiers were far more competitive in this one than in any other game against a big-name opponent this season, but 30.4 percent shooting and a 46-10 deficit in points in the paint doomed Tom Crean's team in the end.
As if this were a surprise, it appears Josh Phegley and Matt Bashore are on another award watch list, this time for the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award, given by the College Baseball Foundation.
Kirby and Dollinger woke up at the crack of 6 a.m. today, and are presently hurtling through the cool Midwestern morning toward Winston-Salem, N.C., where IU will take on Wake Forest tonight (in case you hadn't heard). It's a nine-hour drive, so be nice to them.
Hey folks,
Thought I would provide you all with some reading pleasure whilst I procrastinate away the evening, originally slated to be spent writing a paper. I trust you are doing the same (the Basketblog does not endorse academic laziness, we only practice it).
So this is weird. It appears Notre Dame All-American forward Luke Harangody came down with pneumonia, of all things, while in Maui.
