So, I normally try to find news outlets for predictions on the football games, but this week most of the game predictions are from blogs. Here's what the blog world (and a few others) thinks will happen tomorrow in Evanston. What are your thoughts? Who wins the IU-Northwestern game?
IU's final injury report remained almost completely unchanged from the preliminary one issued earlier this week. The only difference is RB Zach Davis-Walker was downgraded from questionable to out. Here is the full injury report for Saturday's game against Northwestern:
There really isn’t a way to avoid it: IU’s game against Northwestern might turn into a play-in game for a bowl at season’s end. But if the Hoosiers want to “play 13” games this season, their defense must first stop Northwestern’s proficient quarterback Mike Kafka on Saturday.
Northwestern released its final injury report today, and the Wildcats' secondary is looking as thin, if not thinner, than IU's secondary.
The IU football team needs two more wins to qualify for bowl eligibility.
IU coach Bill Lynch addressed the media at his weekly Tuesday afternoon press conference. Here are some highlights.
Does the Big Ten have a dominant team? Currently, Iowa sits at No. 6 in the BCS standings, but can anyone trust them after close calls against two FCS schools? Penn State, meanwhile, continues to dominate its cupcake schedule while losing its only game of much significance. Ohio State's offense has been MIA, especially this past week against Purdue.
The IU coaching staff emphasized fundamentals, execution and intensity all week in practice. The defense responded on Saturday.
The Big Ten never has a lack of bowls available for its teams. So as IU continues to hover around the .500 mark, a bowl game remains a realistic possibility. In fact, ESPN's Bruce Feldman projects IU to play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl (formerly Motor City Bowl) in Detroit (updated projections were released today).
Illinois at Indiana
Here are various predictions for today's Illinois-IU football game - many of which are very similar. The Illini are currently two-point favorites for the game. What are your thoughts?
Here's an interesting breakdown of the Indiana and Illinois football teams since 1995. These stats were compiled by Bob Asmussen of Illini HQ. See the orignial story here.
Starting RB Darius Willis is still listed as questionable in the final injury report released by IU. Willis is "banged up" according to coach Bill Lynch after suffering an ankle injury against Ohio State two weeks ago. Willis traveled with the team, but did not play against Virginia last week.
After participating in homecoming football games for opponents Michigan and Virginia, this week IU will feel at home during the festivities.
The U.S. government classifies its restricted information in three levels: confidential, secret and top secret. If the IU football team had a classification system, its sideline signals would fall in the “top secret” category.
The Big Ten announced its new bowl lineup (effective 2010-2014) this week. The conference will now have five bowl games on Jan. 1 and eight total bowl games (contingent on signing a contract with the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl in Detroit - formerly the Motor City Bowl).
IU coach Bill Lynch addressed the media at his weekly press conference this afternoon. Defensive end Jammie Kirlew and middle linebacker Matt Mayberry also took questions following Lynch. Here are some highlights.
The IU defense could hardly do anything right at Saturday's game against Virginia. The Hoosiers lost 47-7 against a team ranked third worst in the country in total offense.
Who knew it would be so prophetic? Check out this video that was played on the video board at Scott Stadium. Just in case you ever wanted to know what a walking IU logo looked like ...
