Northwestern released its final injury report today, and the Wildcats' secondary is looking as thin, if not thinner, than IU's secondary.
The Wildcats' starting safety Brad Phillips is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. The other starter at safety, Brendan Smith, will miss the game following hand surgery this past week. If Phillips is unavailable, freshmen Jared Carpenter and Hunter Bates would fill his position. "Third starter" safety Brian Peters will fill the other safety spot.
Phillips has forced three fumbles, recovered one fumble and has one interception on the season.
Also, running backs Stephen Simmons and Jacob Schmidt are listed as probable. The two players are second and third in the team's rushing yards total, although the Wildcats have struggled with the run game all season.
IU will be missing LB Will Patterson, CB Chris Adkins and CB Donnell Jones - all three players are out indefinitely with injuries.
