Pardon our slacking. Hello May shows!
Hey folks, With Little 5(party time) and finals(study time), we've all been a little bogged down and negligent of our blogging duties.

Wilco's alt-country sound and lead singer Jeff Tweedy's characteristically soft voice serenaded audience members on Thursday night, April 16, at the IU Auditorium. Union Board and Live Nation booked the band, along with their opener, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, to perform, kicking off the sprint to the end of the year. A Hawk And A Hacksaw opened the night with an hour-long, all-instrumental set at 8:00 p.m.
Kool Keith: Dr. Dooom vs. Dr. Octagon Tour Jake's Nightclub April 17, 2009 Last Saturday night Jake's Nightclub hosted the infamous, free flowing hip-hop artist Kool Keith.
In high school, it seemed that there were several rigid stereotypes: The jock, the burnout, the girl who had been around the block and of course, the geek. While the last of the above archetypes, the geek, may not have reveled in social events at our Alma Maters, Boxcar Books/The Midwest Pages to Prisoners Projects' 6th Annual Rock N Roll Prom on Saturday proved that even dorks can party hard. The Bluebird became a center of mathletes, band geeks and Trekkies for this year's celebration, themed "Talk Nerdy to Me". With so many deliciously dorky options, the crowd did not disappoint when it came to costumes. Many opted for the obvious.

By Josh Kraus As Culture Shock's DJ tent blasted heart pounding synth beats into the ether, Dan Bejar of Destroyer tentatively took the stage with nothing but an acoustic guitar and a water bottle.
B-Mac Like Kelsey, I did the Lou Barlow/Dinosaur Jr. double-feature on Friday. And while I have no words to add to her fine post below, I do have some pics.
Although Bloomington may have been cast with a bit of dreary weather on Friday, nothing was going to prevent local fans from basking in the glory of rock legends Dinosaur Jr.
Check out full details on the Live From Bloomington Club Night bands and schedule here. Our Dino Jr.
B-Mac And the hippie takeover of Louisville, Ky. continues... The latest additions to the lineup of the July 10-12th Forecastle Festival have been announced: Zappa Plays Zappa (a Frank Zappa tribute band headed by his son Dweezil Zappa) Umphrey's McGee (progressive rock/jam) Yonder Mountain String Band (newfangled bluegrass) Pretty Lights (DJ/producer, hip hop/electronica) The New Mastersounds (new funk from Leeds, England) Kathleen Edwards (singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada) Outformation (Southern rock/jam band) The Whigs (garage/Southern rock) Also, there's more news about that upcoming Little 500 show scheduled as part of Forecastle's spring promotional tour.
With aisles packed, seats full and a hushed audience eagerly awaiting the coming performance, a solitary wooden chair stands elevated on the Buskirk-Chumley Theater's stage.
B-Mac So, did The Hold Steady own Jake's Nightclub on Saturday night? Of course they did. The Hold Steady are one of the great rock bands of this decade, and if you claim to love what Reverend Lovejoy calls the "rock and/or roll," you owe it to yourself to check them out. Fortunately, if you missed them this time, you'll probably get another chance: The Hold Steady clearly like Bloomington.
I got a chance to have a lengthy discussion with Aaron Pillar of the Appleseed Cast last week as he made the drive to his day job.
If you aren't of age/don't wanna dish the dough/whatev for Friday's Dinosaur Jr show at the Bluebird, then you should swing by Landlocked to see Lou Barlow do an in-store performance.
Joining the ranks of Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Joan Baez and Bonnie "Prince" Billy, The Mountain Goats will play an accoustic set at 8:30p.m.
Last night's show at the John Waldron Arts Center reminded me of reading a Douglas Coupland novel. Both sets by Tammar and Beach House put me in a pensive mood that's similar to how I feel after reading his books.
Mark your calendars. The alt-rock gods are smiling on Bloomington as the legendary Dinosaur Jr., who recently signed with B-town label Jagjaguwar, will be hitting up the Bluebird next week on April 10. Along with Michigan's own Awesome Color opening, the show is going to be, to put it plainly...well, awesome. It starts at 9 p.m.
West Coast hip hop's self-proclaimed savior The Game brought a little taste of Compton to Central Indiana Tuesday evening.
B-Mac Captain J.K. McKnight has announced the headliners for Louisville, KY's Forecastle Festival -- and, it looks like this year's festival is set to put the grass back into Kentucky bluegrass.* At the top of the bill are the psychedelic jam band Widespread Panic, which will be performing on both Saturday and Sunday of the festival, and blues rock veterans The Black Crowes (who, by the way, are coming up on their 25th anniversary this year). Meanwhile, speaking of blues rock, retro duo The Black Keys will be at Forecastle, as well as folk-punks The Avett Brothers.
Whooops! Lady Gaga was a mix-up at this point. Seems like an elaborate rumor right now. I got a text saying it was announced on the radio last night, then today I was sitting next to a fellow IDSer who showed me a link with the show.
