In high school, it seemed that there were several rigid stereotypes: The jock, the burnout, the girl who had been around the block and of course, the geek.

While the last of the above archetypes, the geek, may not have reveled in social events at our Alma Maters, Boxcar Books/The Midwest Pages to Prisoners Projects' 6th Annual Rock N Roll Prom on Saturday proved that even dorks can party hard.

The Bluebird became a center of mathletes, band geeks and Trekkies for this year's celebration, themed "Talk Nerdy to Me". With so many deliciously dorky options, the crowd did not disappoint when it came to costumes.

Many opted for the obvious. Horned rimmed glasses, granny dresses and suspenders were the base of numerous ensembles. Several donned "kick me" signs and the ever necessary calculator, which were possibly useful to compute excessive drink tabs.

Some took their looks to the extreme; sequins seemed to be a big trend. One girl went so overboard that she resembled Paris Hilton in space, low cut cocktail dress, Barbie pink wig and all. There was even a super hero nerd, complete with a cape and a metallic silver jumpsuit.

Rock N Roll Prom concluded by dishing out honors for the best dressed nerds. Five or so creatively outfitted attendees lined the stage to show off their Star Wars t-shirts, knee socks and pants that rode up just a little too far.

One of the costume award winners was sporting a long plaid grandma dress and a book in her hair entitled, "I Lost It at the Movies".

The evening's entertainment succeeded in the clothing department as well. Female lead singer of Good Luck, Ginger Alford, donned a grey sweater vest while crooning the tunes of Belle and Sebastian.

The Madonna cover band's lead singer channeled the queen of pop herself, choosing to pair a black velvet leotard with a white garter belt.

Rock N Roll Prom was an overall great night, uniting Bloomington's "Most Likely to Bypass Prom" and bringing out the Urkel in all of us.
