*ask guided by guitar at Landlocked

Landlocked Music was packed to the gills last night as locals *ask set up a makeshift stage in the corner and commenced to rocking through an hour-long set celebrating the release of their new single, "Painted Hole/Best Friends." After a few microphone-related electrocutions, the set was underway and didn't let up for a second until the final note of the last song. *ask opened with a rousing version of Bowie's "Suffragette City," then launched into a high-energy set split pretty evenly between covers and originals.

Kam Kama: The Tiled House Album Review

During an initial listening of Kam Kama's new album, The Tiled House, I wasn't impressed. But it's funny, because I have never been impressed the first time I hear the music that I come to like the most. After listening to the album on repeat for a day, I sat down to listen to each track one final time before writing this review. The music is genuinely good; Kam Kama is certainly among the best bands in Bloomington, if not the best. Learn more about Kam Kama and where you can listen to the new album, The Tiled House, after the break.... The first track, Halfway Motel, is the highlight of the album.

*ask to play Landlocked Music

*ask @ Landlocked Music Friday, January 20 6:30 p.m. Free All ages "Painted Hole / Best Friends" is the debut single from local rockers *ask, but it's far from its collaborators' first foray into recorded sound. Each member of the band is a veteran of the indie scene, and the new seven-inch is the culmination of a creative union that was long destined to happen. The vinyl-only single brings *ask together with engineer Dan Figurelli for two cuts of infectious rock 'n' roll. On Friday, the band will play a free show at Landlocked Music promoting the release.
