I felt pretty good after Thursday. I was a fairly respectable 12 for 16 on my bracket picks and my only Sweet Sixteen team to bow out was Harvard, a longshot to begin with.

Smart addresses coaching future

If you didn't know any better, you might be under the impression that VCU Coach Shaka Smart has already been offered and has accepted the Illinois coaching job. But Smart---whose VCU squad will take on IU Saturday night in the round of 32---said despite the rumors, the Illinois vacancy hasn't even crossed his mind. "I have not given any thought to it," Smart said.

Former IU Coach Davis fired by UAB

Ten years ago, Mike Davis was at the helm of IU's run to the National Championship game. Now, the former IU coach is unemployed. Davis was fired by the University of Alabama-Birmingham after six seasons.

Former IU player Mike Woodson becomes New York Knicks' interim coach

After former coach Mike D'Antoni resigned from coaching the New York Knicks on Wednesday, former IU basketball player Mike Woodson took the reigns of the team in an interim role. He joined the team in the summer of 2011 after previously coaching the Atlanta Hawks to a 206-286 record during his six seasons as head coach (2004-2010). As of Wednesday, the Knicks had a record of 18-24 and were riding a six-game losing streak. Woodson played for the Hoosiers from 1976-1980, averaging 19.8 points per game.

Max's Musings: Breaking down the brackets

I wanted to believe this year would be like last year. I really did. When I sat down to fill out my bracket, I had every intention of picking multiple double-digit seeds to make the Sweet Sixteen and at least one Final Four team that would have had to go through multiple higher seeds to get there. Instead, even after much reconsideration, I ended up with a Final Four of Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio State and North Carolina, two 1s and two 2s.

I spoke with Teddy Feinberg of the Las Cruces Sun-News about his insight on the Aggies. He said the Aggies are playing some very good basketball dating back to the start of February and here are a few highlights about his thoughts on New Mexico State. On the fact that NMSU isn't your typical mid-major team in terms of size: "There's no doubt their strength is five feet into the basket.
