Late this evening, former IU men's basketball recruit Ron Patterson announced via his Twitter account that he will be attending Brewster Academy in New Hampshire this upcoming year. Patterson ended up turning down several NCAA Division 1 programs that began courting him after he left the Hoosiers last week after failing to achieve academic benchmarks set by the University during his summer classes and was denied admission into IU. With his choice, Patterson still has the opportunity to play four years of D-1 basketball in the NCAA even after lacing it up in New Hampshire, meaning the Indianapolis-native could theoretically come back to IU for the 2013-14 season with four years of college basketball yet to play. This, though, is an unlikely situation because, like leading up to this season, the Hoosiers have already given out one more scholarship than allowed by the NCAA, and giving Patterson a scholarship a year from now would mean IU Coach Tom Crean would either have to cut ties with two players or ask them to pay their own way.
