The Indiana University field hockey team completed their exhibition play this Sunday, defeating the Miami (OH) Redhawks 4-2. The Hoosiers came out strong behind Emily Bowker and Gaby Olshemski unassisted goals. Then, Nicole Volgraf found teammate Rachel Stauffer for another goal and the Hoosiers held an 3-0 lead at halftime. The second half came and went with no scores and an additional overtime period was played. Valentina Rodriquez of the Redhawks scored a goal to trim the deficit 3-1. That goal was short-lived as Audra Heilman assisted teammate Mariella Grote for another goal, making the score 4-1. Alyssa Logan of the Redhawks scored the final goal of the game making the final score 4-2 with IU getting the victory. The Hoosiers begin the officially begin the regular season on Friday August 24th as they travel to Kent State to take on the Golden Flashes at noon ET.
