Tuesday afternoon the Big Ten Coach's Poll rankings were released showing Indiana and Northwestern in the lead heading into the team's first regular season play this weekend.
The Hoosiers spent this week preparing to take on St. Louis and Cincinnati respectively this weekend in the St. Louis Tournament.
After going 1-1 this preseason following a draw with UIC on Aug. 14 and a win against Chivas de Guadalajara in penalty kicks on Aug. 18 the Hoosiers earned the top spot according to the leagues coaches.
The preseason conference rankings go as follows:
1. Northwestern/Indiana
3. Michigan State
4. Ohio State
5. Penn State
6. Wisconsin
7. Michigan
Sophomore forward Eriq Zavaleta and junior midfielders Jacob Bushue and Nikita Kotlov also were mentioned in Tuesday's report. The three were among 18 others mentioned within the Big Ten Players To Watch list for men's soccer this season.
