Previewing the UConn game -- White Out
Good morning, faithful readers. The road gets much tougher from here on out for the No. 7 Hoosiers.
Good morning, faithful readers. The road gets much tougher from here on out for the No. 7 Hoosiers.
Bassett has been practicing more, and is why he is getting the start over Crawford. Sampson said Bassett has had good carry over from practice to the game.
Another Big Ten win for the Hoosiers to the tune of 65-43. It's hard to criticize anything IU did tonight, so I won't even try.
Seniors Tracy Porter and Tim Bugg will be part of the North team this Saturday in Mobile, Ala. for the Under Armour senior bowl.
Sorry for the late post, but I had to get to bed in time to get up at 3:30 A.M. to watch the James Blake - Rodger Federer match (man, Blake is already down a break in the first). The No.
For those major sports dorks out there like me who love statistics, the new website Basketball Prospectus is for you.
Here is a link to this week's Big Ten teleconference.
Hey folks, No mention of the Hoosiers in the latest AP or ESPN/USA Today polls, though they did drop Minnesota out of the "also receiving votes" category in the AP.
I went to the Kelvin Sampson radio show tonight at the Hoosier Den at Foster Quad mainly to see what Sampson would say, but also to beg some free food off from freshman with extra meal points (any freshman readers out there, you know how to contact me). Here were some highlights: Sampson said he was happy that the team was able to pull out two victories against Minnesota and Iowa.
We have tried to shy away from the seeding talk here on the basketblog as the NCAA tournament is still a long way off, but after listening to the ESPN College Basketball Insider podcast last Friday and seeing ESPN's resident Bracketologist Joe Lunardi's latest bracket projections, I suppose it is that time of year again. Lunardi currently has IU as the No.
This from the good folks down at IU Athletics: THOMAS NAMED BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
IU moved from 9th to 7th in the most recent AP poll, passing UCLA and Georgetown, who lost to USC and Pitt, respectively. IU also made the move from 10th to 8th this week in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll.
The new polls will be released Monday afternoon which is good news for Hoosier fans as the team will look to rise from its current 9/10 (AP/Coaches) ranking. Georgetown and Texas A&M both lost this week, leaving an opening for the Hoosiers to jump in the polls.
IU coach Kelvin Sampson set the record for most consecutive home victories to start a career at IU during IU's 81-65 victory against Penn State on Sunday.
That's it. The final score IU 81 Penn State 65. It wasn't as easy as the score indicates for the Hoosiers, but give Penn State credit for hanging around for the first 30 minutes of this game.
After a couple sloppy, down-to-the-wire victories, the Hoosiers have to be breathing a slight sigh of relief as Penn State comes to town on Sunday.
MN misses a wide open three and IU comes down with the rebound. Stemler hits both free throws to ice the game.
After an impressive half-time show by the IU cheerleaders, we are ready for some second half action. 11:51 to play: IU leads 46-37 Katie Ohm hit another 3-pointer early in the 2nd half, to go 4-4 from deep, but Nikki Smith quickly answered with a 3 of her own.
