We have tried to shy away from the seeding talk here on the basketblog as the NCAA tournament is still a long way off, but after listening to the ESPN College Basketball Insider podcast last Friday and seeing ESPN's resident Bracketologist Joe Lunardi's latest bracket projections, I suppose it is that time of year again.

Lunardi currently has IU as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest bracket and is slated to play its first round games in D.C. (I would like this set up as I have never been to our nation's capital). The Hoosiers would have a date with No. 2 seed Georgetown in the Sweet 16 if the seeds hold and a potential match-up between No. 1 seed Kansas (a re-match of the 1993 Elite 8 showdown won by the Jayhawks 83-77).

Fans may ask why the Hoosiers are a No. 3 seed and Georgetown is a No. 2 seed although the polls released today have the Hoosiers ranked ahead of the Hoyas. Lunardi, and the NCAA committee for that matter, use the RPI (including the SOS) in determining the seeds. IU has played a pretty weak schedule so far, but has the chance to have some signature wins down the stretch.

Lunardi has UNC, Memphis, Kansas and Tennessee as his four No. 1 seeds. Other Big Ten schools in the field of 64 include Michigan State (3 seed), Wisconsin (3 seed), Purdue (9 seed) and Ohio State (11 seed). He discusses the new bracket in this video found on ESPN's college basketball page.

Are Hoosier fans happy with the No.3 seed? Where do you see IU ending up at the end of the season?
