Greenspan press conference

Ben and I just got back from the Hoosier Room, site of Rick Greenspan's press conference. We are working to transcribe the most important parts of the press conference and are trying to get the full-length video up as soon as possible. Obviously it was an important day for IU athletics as evidenced by the people in attendance.

BREAKING NEWS: Greenspan gone

We'd been hearing rumors - quick-developing ones at that - that said Rick Greenspan was resigning. They are rumors no more. An IU Athletics press release just confirmed it. Indiana University Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan today announced that he would step down from his position, effective the end of the calendar year. "This has been a very difficult time and I am aware that I have become the focus of criticism which will continue to distract Indiana University from its core educational mission.

Rivals releases Top 100 for 2010

Gordon answers questions at NBA Draft media day

I was sitting in The Westin Times Square lobby about an hour before the NBA Draft prospects were supposed to hold their media day when Eric Gordon came around the corner dressed in a tie-and-vest combination. Gordon's eyes lit up as soon as he saw Memphis's Derrick Rose and USC's OJ Mayo.

Bearcat connection

Here's a story in today's Cincinnati Enquirer that I have been anticipating the last two weeks. University of Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin is going to be in his third year of the Bearcat rebuiliding process this winter, so he knows a little something about what Tom Crean will be dealing with the next few years.

IU claims Goldpanner

Coach Tracy Smith has added another member to the 2009 season as he has signed shortstop Jake Dunning, according to Jacksonville.com. The 6'4," 180-pounder batted .341 with three home runs and 37 RBIs for Florida Community College at Jacksonville.

Comcast and BTN reach agreement to expand coverage

Good news Hoosier fans living in Indiana - the Big Ten network is coming next season. Here is the press release from IU: With the Big Ten Network announcing a long-term multimedia agreement with Comcast today, Indiana University expects the reach of the network to increase to 90 percent coverage within the state when the cable company begins airing BTN programming on August 15. "I am extremely pleased that this agreement between Comcast and the Big Ten Network has been reached," said IU President Michael A.
